The most useable portable & reliable device in these days for data travelling is USB device. Lots of people using it from very long time. But the new concept make some people confuse that was “USB 3.0” .when USB 3.0 came to the market people realized 3.0 means the high speed of data transfer yup! Correct high speed of data transfer but not only high speed lots of new changings technically and physically in the USB 3.0 make it reliable more than USB 2.0 about which people do not know Let’s have a deep look.
USB 3.0 was introduced in November 2008 but it was not in use widely the reasons were
- Operating systems were not supported to this new technology.
- Hardware was not compatible to this new invention.
- Intel announced we are not going to provide USB 3.0 support in our chipsets till 2011 & same from AMD.
Now when the famous brands were not ready for this new improvement it was difficult for 3.0 to became a celebrity of IT world. These were some reasons for why USB 3.0 became famous in late.
Improvements to USB 3.0:
Most commonly people use to say 2.0 to 3.0 update is just a speed update so now you can transfer your data in more speed as compare to USB 2.0. Yes this is the truth but this is not only truth about 3.0.
Technical Updates of USB 3.0:
- USB 3.0 Can transfer data on the super speed off 625mb/sec.
- Increased Power to 5v 900mA while 2.0 was 5v 500mA.
- It holds full duplex architecture
- USB 3.0 (Type-A) Compatible with USB 2.0 port also.
- Providing better power management.
- Streaming support
Now don’t think why your 3.0 is not providing transfer speed more than 40mb/sec or something else because this speed depends on lots of factors like type of data, your system configurations, how much your system is busy in other tasks while transferring data and many more.
Physical Updates of USB 3.0:
3.0 is available in old traditional style of USB 2.0 but they also introduces three more physical shapes those are Type-B, Micro-B, type-C and the old traditional one is known as Type-A.
Type A:This type looks like traditional USB 2.0 but what make it different from USB2.0 and identifiable is blue color of its tongue so we can plug it in USB 2.0 old ports also.
Type B: USB 3.0 type B which is not widely in used but good in grip. Usually use in Printer audio devices and etc.
Type Micro B: Instead of providing Type C after type B they provide a new time that is Type Micro B this type of 3.0 is widely in use in external hard drive cables from one end and the other end contain Type A.
Type C: They lunch this type of USB 3.0 in last couple of years it is physically and technical improved its sides does not matter you can plug it in any position up-side-down or down-side-up when you talk about technically it provide more power as compared to other types of 3.0 even you can charge a laptop through it while other types were capable of charging smartphones.
USB 3.1 is also available in market now but the major and only difference between 3.0 and 3.1 is speed. 3.1 provide double speed as compare to 3.0.
